BELIOT, Wis. -- The Beloit Snappers have brought home a familiar face.Kyle Murphy had big dreams to make it big when he put on a glove as a youngster, and it continued when he became the Snappers bat boy. Those dreams now a reality as Murphy is now a right fielder with the Clinton Lumberkings, a Class-A affiliated team.Murphy has spent a lot of years on the diamond and discovered Beloit's Pohlman field a home away from home."It's a field I feel real comfortable with and its only five minutes away, and I have family and friends here," said Kyle."Kyle was three years old and he was out running around the bases and sliding into home," said Murphy's father, John.He spent many years playing little league before viewing the game as a batboy for the Beloit Snappers in the mid-1990s."Being around all the Beloit Snappers was a thrill, and obviously batting practice was the best because I was able to run out there and shag fly balls," said Murphy .Murphy is now viewing the game with much bigger expectations."The biggest thing is to be a major league player and the goal is to get to that next level," said Murphy. After being drafted by the Texas Rangers in the 19th round of the 2007 draft he found himself playing for the Clinton Lumberkings in the same league as the Beloit Snappers, now affiliated with the Minnesota Twins.Murphy returned home this week playing a four game series against the team he spent many seasons rooting for and brought with him many family and friends."How proud are his mother, myself and everyone else? Words cannot describe the feelings we have," said his father."Now that I'm in town its great to see everyone out here and I've gotten a lot of support from friends and family," said Murphy. After the series finale Friday, Murphy heads back to Clinton hoping his next move to the majors is just a phone call away.
