Boaters Return To Lake Mendota With Fewer Restrictions

Ban Still In Effect For Other Area Waterways

UPDATED: 8:33 am CDT August 18, 2008

Joyful boaters returned to Lake Mendota over the weekend after the 500-foot slow, no-wake order was lifted.

The ban is still in effect for other area waterways.

Full, slow, and no-wake orders remain for Cherokee Marsh.

500-foot slow, no-wake restrictions are still in effect for Lakes Monona and Waubesa

Despite those restrictions the lakes seem busier than ever.

"The boat traffic has picked up immensely and so have the citations," said Deputy Jeff Nelson, of the Dane County Sheriff's Department. "It's been incredible what we've been seeing the last couple weeks."
