MADISON, Wis. -- State lawmakers will review Wisconsin's new mercury emission rules this week. The rules call for Wisconsin utilities to slash emissions by 90 percent over the next decade.State air officials said the limits will mean cleaner air, but environmentalists said the rule is too weak. Businesses have complained that utilities will have to spend tens of millions of dollars to comply, driving up their electric bills. The Republican-controlled Assembly Natural Resources Committee will hold a public hearing Wednesday on the rules, a likely precursor to the panel objecting to them.
