SPRING GREEN, Wis. -- After more than six weeks of waiting, the Federal Emergency Management Agency is helping residents of Spring Green catch a break.
VIDEO: Watch The ReportResidents cannot receive any more federal aid until the homes are evaluated for damage. But since many homes are still inaccessible by foot, FEMA is trying another option -- sending a photographer and damage assessor out with the Department of Natural Resources by boat.Though the inspector will not go inside of houses, FEMA hopes that the inspector's expertise will allow them to write a detailed report accessible by higher FEMA officials, WISC-TV reported."What we want to find out is can we take a look from the boat, add that to the information we have from interviews and come up with a good, credible inspection report that will release that money to these people," said FEMA Public Information Officer Mike McCormick. If the report is successful, Spring Green residents could see results within a couple of days.
