Woman In Custody After Running Deputy Off Road

Car Chase Ensued After Near Collision

UPDATED: 5:21 pm CDT July 4, 2008

A Rock County deputy was forced to drive off the road to avoid a head-on collision with Ford Taurus on Friday morning.

The car was driven by 36-year-old Wendy Romack, of Janesville.

After getting back on the road, the deputy chased Romack.

Law enforcement used stop-sticks to disable the Taurus -- which was stolen from Dane County.

Police said Romack tried to run away after ditching the car but was appended quickly by county and city of Edgerton officers. Charges against Romack include fleeing police and OWI, WISC-TV reported.
